New Software Versions: Release of Vi-System 4.0 & Vi-Search 1.2

Agent Vi has released new versions of its video analytics solutions – Vi-Search (video search and analysis solution) and Vi-System (real-time detection and alert solution) – offering new capabilities, performance enhancements, and new business intelligence applications.

In line with Agent Vi’s focus on simplicity and ease of use of its products, an innovative Automatic Scene Learning (ASL) algorithm was developed and is incorporated in Vi-System Version 4.0. The ASL algorithm performs automatic calibration of targets in each camera, allowing the software to self-learn each scene and distinguish between people and vehicles. This saves time and labor associated with manually configuring each camera and shortens the time required to become operational. Read more about ASL in the "Ask Agent Vi" column below.

Vi-Search Version 1.2 features additions and enhancements, including search of video recorded from PTZ cameras, enhanced viewing capabilities and shorter search duration. Search through 24 hours of video is now performed within 3 seconds, and in addition, Vi-Search can operate in near real-time, allowing search through video recorded as recent as 3 seconds prior to the search query. This allows an operator to quickly and effectively search, retrieve and respond to events recorded by the surveillance system.

Through continued engagement with the retail market, Agent Vi has also enhanced its business intelligence applications, allowing for shopper traffic data to be presented in more extensive ways. Retail operators are provided with quick and easy options to analyze traffic data in their facilities and across different schedules, and adjust business operations accordingly.

Ask Agent Vi: What is ASL?

Automatic Scene Learning (ASL) is a new patent pending feature available in Vi-System Version 4.0 and Vi-Search Version 1.2.

The process of configuring an analytics installation for optimal detection performance requires the installer to have relevant knowledge and experience. Agent Vi is constantly striving to simplify this process in order to minimize the time and effort required to configure each camera and allow even inexperienced installers to achieve great detection results.

ASL replaces the need for manual configuration of 3 important camera characteristics, via an automated self-learning algorithm that is able to optimally tune the camera parameters based on analysis of the video feed. The 3 configured parameters are: Environment (Indoor or Outdoor), Camera Mounting (Overhead or Angled) and Camera Calibration.

ASL works by analyzing various scene parameters including scene lighting, moving targets and more, and then selecting the proper configuration parameters based on this analysis. ASL can work in parallel on any number of cameras and usually takes between 15 to 60 minutes to complete.

ASL saves a significant amount of time in bringing a new analytics installation to an operational state, and is particularly helpful for large-scale installations that must configure and calibrate hundreds of cameras to get started. With an easier and quicker set-up, new installations can be up-and-running in no time, making Agent Vi’s products the most user-friendly on the market.

Agent Vi Exhibits at Safety & Security Amsterdam

Complementing Agent Vi’s growing presence in the Netherlands, and following recent wins of significant Dutch projects, Agent Vi exhibited at the SSA Expo (Safety & Security Amsterdam) during March 2011, presenting from within the booth of ecosystem partner, Axis Communications.
