New Software Versions Enhance Forensic Search & Business Intelligence Applications
Agent Vi is releasing new versions of its video analytics solutions – Vi-Search (video search and analysis solution) and Vi-System (real-time detection and alert solution) – offering exciting, new features and performance enhancements.
Vi-Search, designed to index and analyze surveillance video for rapid and automated search for specific events and targets in the video, now introduces Vi-Search Version 2.0 which includes “offline search” capabilities, whereby pre-recorded video clips from virtually any source can be imported into Vi-Search. This offline search functionality allows forensic investigators to perform automated analysis of existing video sources, saving significant time and labor associated with manual review of recorded clips. Vi-Search Version 2.0 also features a new “site map” functionality, designed to project motion data gathered from individual cameras deployed at one site onto a complete site map. This allows retailers and other facility operators to gain a greater understanding of motion (traffic) patterns and trends throughout their site.
Additional performance enhancements are also included in Vi-System Version 4.1, allowing for improved detection performance in a variety of challenging environments such as outdoor and crowded indoor scenes.

Ask Agent Vi: Can Video from Legacy Recording Systems be Imported into Vi-Search for Rapid Search & Analysis?
Most surveillance cameras deployed around the world use DVRs for capturing and recording their video footage. These are usually closed systems with very limited functionality. Thus when a police officer (or any other investigator) is tasked with obtaining relevant, forensic video evidence pertaining to a specific incident, they must manually review the recorded video footage as there are no automated tools at their disposal. This is a very labor intensive process, consuming many man hours, especially when there are multiple cameras to review.
Responding to the need for accelerating the gathering of forensic evidence from any video camera, Agent Vi has developed the Offline Search feature for Vi-Search. Using this feature, the investigator can import video files from almost any source into Vi-Search. Once the video file is imported, the software automatically scans the video at a rapid pace (up to 30 times faster than manual review).
During this scanning process, the software collects information about all vehicles, people and static objects in the field of view of each camera. Once this scanning process is complete, the imported video clip can be searched using Vi-Search’s simple parameters such as target type (person, vehicle, object), behavior, colors and more. For example the investigator can search for “All people wearing a red shirt and loitering for more than 30 seconds,” or “All vehicles driving against the direction of the traffic,” and so forth. With Vi-Search, the investigator can quickly find the relevant video footage.
Using Vi-Search’s rich set of query and display/visualization tools, investigations that once required several days and multiple people can now be completed by a single person in less than an hour. Not only does this save money, but it saves valuable time, which is of the utmost importance when an investigation is underway and time is of the essence.
Agent Vi’s Offline Search functionality is available with the release of Vi-Search v2.0, and evaluation versions can be obtained by contacting Agent Vi.

Case Study: Agent Vi Revolutionizes Search through Stored Video at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC)
North Hennepin Community College (NHCC), one of the largest and most diverse community colleges in Minnesota, MN., sought a solution to assist in reviewing stored video in order to provide the highest possible security and safety for the college’s more than 15,000 students. Vi-Search – Agent Vi’s search and analysis solution – was deployed at the college, enabling NHCC with an automated solution for review of stored footage containing campus incidents. Moreover, Vi-Search provides statistical information which helps NHCC to track traffic numbers in the bookstore and cafeteria.
